FAMILY RELATIONSHIP CHART
This chart is based on the system used by courts and most genealogical societies. To identify the relationship between any two people with a common ancestor, do the following:
- Identify the common ancestor of two people.
- In the blue row, locate the column that identifies the relationship of one of the two people to the common ancestor.
- In the blue column, locate the row that identifies the relationship of the other person to the common ancestor.
Where the column and row intersect is the box that identifies their relationship to each other.
The red highlighted boxes show persons of the same generation. "Removed " indicates that the two persons selected are not of the same generation.
