Myrtle was educated in the local schools and married Bruce Davison Sutton 30 December 1948 when she was 20 years old. Always called "Sweetie" by Bruce, they had 4 children and built a house at 107 Glenwood Avenue in Evans City where she lived all her life.

She was a homemaker and a life member of the First Baptist Church, Evans City where she was also involved in the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. Her joy was in her home and family. Myrtle and Bruce celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998.

She excelled at gardening and canning, producing wonderful meals. She remained active until the day she died. That day, one of her daughters and her family were visiting and together they had prepared the evening meal. As they were clearing up, her daughter noted to Bruce that her speech seemed somewhat slurred. Bruce had her sit on the chair to rest, but he felt she needed medical attention and called 911. She assured everyone that she was experiencing no pain. The paramedics called for an airlift after examining her and the helicopter landed in the field just behind Dot Marburger's house. She was taken to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Her condition deteriorated very quickly and when Bruce asked the doctor's opinion, he agreed that the life supports should be removed. Myrtle passed into the Lord's presence very quietly within minutes late Friday 28 April 2000 at the age of 72 1/2 years.
