Doug was educated in the Butler school system, graduated from Carnegie-Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh, and then graduated from Dickinson Law School. Doug worked summers at Mine Safety Appliance while working on his law degree at Dickinson Law School and upon passing the bar, he was hired as attorney for the company. One of my father's acquaintances, Bob English, retired about this time, and Doug eventually moved into his position.
