Taught school for several years. Received an M.D. from the present University of Pittsburgh in 1895. Removed to Avonmore, PA in 1895 where he practiced medicine until his death in 1929. He was an elder and treasurer of the Presbyterian Church for 25 years, and a member of the school board for about 25 years.
